Asia's leading contemporary dance theater. The Times
Cloud Gate is the name of the oldest known dance in China. In 1973, Lin Hwai-min, a writer-turned-choreographer, adopted this classical name and founded the first contemporary dance company in the greater Chinese-speaking community. Over 45 years, the company has successfully transformed ancient aesthetics into a thrilling modern celebration of motion, frequently toured around the world, and incessantly shared joy and beauty of dance with Taiwanese people in cities as well as in grass-root communities.
This special poster exhibition showcases posters designed by outstanding Taiwanese artists across three generations. These posters provide not only the reminiscences of Cloud Gate’s repertories, but also traces of how aesthetic concepts have transformed and developed in Taiwanese society over nearly a half century.
