臺灣雲門舞集諸友：
這是來自兩位荷蘭舞迷的信；希望轉給目前正在歐洲巡演的舞團。我們想讓你知道，有人願意千方百計趕赴雲門的演出。
我們認為雲門是世界級的舞團，只要經濟狀況允許，我們一定奔赴觀賞，去接受你們獨特藝術的感動。
幾年前，我們在荷蘭海牙第一次看到雲門，節目是《流浪者之歌》。我們深受震憾，馬上去買第二天晚上的票。第二場，我們仍然深深感動。演出後，我們有幸見到林懷民先生，並向他致賀。
然後，去年我們在倫敦沙德勒之井看到《水月》，我出差，太太同行，到了以後，發現雲門正在演出，趕緊去看。《水月》有如雷電般地震動了我們！威力十足，美好動人，深沉，優雅，和諧，這些文字不足以完整表達我們的感受。我們必須再看一次，因此設法買到兩個禮拜後在布拉格公演的門票。然後，訂了旅館，上飛機去布拉格。
那天晚上，林先生上台宣佈，舞團許多人食物中毒，我們的心臟幾乎停止跳動。但，他又說舞者堅持上台演出！我們完全沒失望，那又是一次感動銘心的經驗。
如今，2003年，雲門又到歐洲…這回不到荷蘭，因此我們再旅行去看雲門。我們已經訂好票：五月八日星期四，去德國巴登巴登看《水月》，五月十七日星期六到法國里昂看《竹夢》。這回我們開車去，看這兩場表演，來回要駕駛3,500公里的路。要再一次看到《水月》，要看新的《竹夢》，我們好興奮！
請你將這封信轉給舞團的朋友，也許知道觀眾中有兩個忠誠的舞迷，會讓他們更盡情演出！我們也希望有機會見到林懷民先生，並向全團的藝術家致意。

Just a message from two dance lovers from The Netherlands, that you might want to pass on the Company that is now performing in Europe. It tells them about the lengths some people are willing to go to be able to see the Cloud Gate Dance Theatre on stage. We think this Company is at an absolute world-class level, and we try to use every opportunity (within a limited budget) to see and be moved by your unique art.
We first saw the Cloud Gate Dance Theatre perform in The Hague in The Netherlands a couple of years ago, with "Songs of the Wanderers". We were so struck by this performance that we immediately bought tickets for the other performance of the following night, which again moved us deeply. We also had the good fortune to be able to speak with Mr. Lin Hwai-Min after the performance, talk about the performance and congratulate him and the company on their outstanding work.
Then last year we had the opportunity to see "Moon Water" in the Sadler's Well Theatre in London. I had to be in London for business reasons, and my wife accompanied me on that occasion. Looking for dance performances that evening that we might go to, we were obviously were very pleased with the chance opportunity to see the Cloud Gate Dance Theatre again.
The performance of "Moon Water" struck us like lightning! Power, beauty, depth, elegance, harmony are some of the words that we would use to describe our experience. We HAD to experience this again, and we managed to get tickets for one of the performances in Prague two weeks later, booked a flight and a hotel and got off to Prague.
When on the evening of the performance Mr. Lin came on the stage to make an announcement, our hearts nearly stopped. He told us that many dancers in the company had a bad case of food poisoning from the night before, and that therefore the performance might be affected by this, but that the dancers wanted to perform! And they did not disappoint us, again we had a very moving experience.
And now it is 2003, and Cloud Gate Dance Theatre is in Europe again ... not coming to The Netherlands this time, so we have to come to them! Therefore we have booked seats for the performance of "Moon Water" in Baden-Baden in Germany, on Thursday 8th of May, and Bamboo Dream in Lyon in France, on Saturday 17th May. We'll go by car this time, and will be driving over 3,500 kilometers to join these two performances. We are very excited to be able to see Moon Water again, and also the new Bamboo Dream.
If you could pass this message on to the group, maybe the knowledge that these two Dutch admirers are in the audience will stimulate the dancers to an even more breath-taking performance, and maybe we even will have a chance to congratulate Mr. Lin Hwai-Min and the dancers with their work.
