2025.03.10

On June 21–22, 2025, Cloud Gate Theater in Tamsui presents “Spring Riot 2025”, a choreographic platform featuring six choreographers from Taiwan, Japan, and Europe. This year’s invited artists include Baru MADILJIN, Dance Director of Tjimur Dance Theatre, an Indigenous Taiwanese choreographer; Wu-kang CHEN, Artistic Director of HORSE; Sunny YANG, Artistic Director of Les Petites Choses Production; Hiroaki Umeda, a leading figure in dance and digital art from Japan; and the Taiwanese-Hungarian duo Chen-Wei LEE and Vakulya Zoltán of LEE\VAKULYA. Collaborating with twenty Cloud Gate dancers, they will explore the purest expressions of movement in a stripped-down creative setting with minimal theatrical design.

Emerging creators LIN Pin-shuo and LAI Wei-chun en route to their future works, showcase the developing ideas in the studio’s Work in Progress sessions.

Since 2001, “Spring Riot” has been an important platform for Taiwanese choreographers to debut new works. Over the past 24 years, it has nurtured renowned artists such as CHENG Tsung-lung, Bulareyaung Pagarlava, and HUANG Yi.

Spring Riot 2025” takes place on June 21–22 at Cloud Gate Theater. Tickets are available via OPENTIX. Audiences are invited to witness the raw, unfiltered essence of dance.
