The Cloud Gate Culture and Arts Foundation is a private non-profit organization, with a mission to create and perform dance, to promote cultural activities, and to facilitate cultural development and cross-cultural exchange. It operates the Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan founded in 1973, the Cloud Gate 2 founded in 1999 (restructured to become one Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan in 2019) and the Cloud Gate Theater in Tamsui which opened in 2015.  

In addition to continuously supporting and presenting outstanding performances from Taiwan and the world, the Foundation focuses on developing local talents and has initiated the “Art Makers Project”, providing young choreographers with financial aids to create and rehearse their dance works at Cloud Gate Theater, and the “Wanderer Project”, allowing young professionals to broaden their horizon through traveling abroad. The Foundation also dedicates itself to arts education and cultural activities in Tamsui.
