Cloud Gate Dance Theatre Premieres All Ears: A Sound-Driven Journey in Dance
Cloud Gate Dance Theatre’s Artistic Director CHENG Tsung-lung unveils All Ears, a new large-scale creation premiering October 23–26, 2025, at the National Theater in Taipei, followed by performances in Taichung (Nov 7–9) and Kaohsiung (Nov 15–16).
A co-production with the National Theater & Concert Hall and France’s Le Phénix Scène Nationale Valenciennes, All Ears is inspired by the unique nature of hearing—“Unlike vision, the ear cannot shut”—and examines how sound penetrates the body, stirs emotions, and drives movement.
The production features an exceptional creative team: legendary Taiwanese sound artist TU Duu-chih (Golden Horse Awards, Cannes Technical Award, National Award for Arts) collaborating for the first time with his son, sound designer TU Chun-tang; French composer Esteban FERNANDEZ; visual artist Jam WU; fashion designer CHEN Shao-yen; laser artist Aka CHANG; and lighting designer SHEN Po-hung.
Staged like a film set, All Ears uses sound as both the lens and the pivotal points of each scene—becoming the driving force that shapes space, sets the pace, and propels the dancers’ movement.
