50,000 PEOPLE DANCE AT CLOUD GATE OUTDOOR PERFORMANCE
When you're talking about Cloud Gate, magic is not too strong a word.
Time Out, London
Revered around the world, Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan has stunned and mesmerized the audience with works, by its founder Lin Hwai-min, that transforms ancient aesthetics into modern celebration of motion. After 46 glorious years of directing the company, Lin stepped down as artistic director last December.
Presented by Cathay Arts Festival, the outdoor performance of Lin Hwai-min: A Retrospective on July 27, 2019 marks Lin’s last appearance with the company in such event. 50,000 people packed the Liberty Plaza, Taipei, to bid farewell to him. They raved about the exquisite performance of dancers from Cloud Gate, winner of “the outstanding company award” of the British National Dance Awards, and joyfully danced together at the intermission.
This moving documentary captures the beauty of dancing and emotions of the audience in an evening of spectacular mass gathering. It will be available for viewing from July 18 Sat. at 8pm GMT+8 until July 25 Sat. on Cloud Gate YouTube and Vimeo.
