The story starts with the screening of a documentary about Ma-mi.
In the 90s, MA Tai-xiang (also known as Ma-mi), a person living with HIV, established a shelter called the Sweet Ma's. Many patients and volunteers gathered here and supported one another like family members. Everything was fine until one day the Sweet Ma's was anonymously reported as a place for drug parties, which led to the closure of the shelter that used to be a home for the infected.
More than ten years have passed. A woman named Jun-fan becomes interested in the real reason behind the closure of the Sweet Ma's and wants to know how everything started, that is, the story of Ma-mi. For this reason, she starts her documentary film project. Based on the diary of Ma-mi, Jun-fan is able to interview friends and relatives who were close to Ma-mi. However, each person tells a very different story about Ma-mi. Jun-fan has to put together the puzzle-like fragments of information about Ma-mi in order to find out the truth from descriptions of Ma-mi as told by people with different and often opposite positions.
At the end, Ma-mi appears in person. Will his statements be the final answer? Or are they just versions of possible memoirs?

Selected by the National Culture and Arts Foundation as a “TAIWAN TOP Performing Arts Group,” 4 CHAIRS has become one of Taiwan’s leading theatre companies, known for its artistic quality, distinctive aesthetics, and strong audience connection.
Li-ying is a Taiwanese playwright. A 2015 Resident Artist at the National Theater & Concert Hall, she is now the Content Director of DaMou Entertainment and KOKO Entertainment.
Selected credits include the Netflix miniseries Wave Makers (Golden Bell Award nominee, 2023), the comic Tender Is the Night (Golden Comic Award winner, 2024), and the short film Inspired by Lip Balm (Official Selection at BIFFF and NYAFF; Golden Harvest Awards nominee, 2025). She is also the author of the play collections Sleep in Spring, Dress in Code, and The Possible Memoirs of a Traitor.
Artistic Director of 4 CHAIRS THEATRE, Tora Hsu holds an MA in Advanced Theatre Practice from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, and is currently a full-time lecturer in the Department of Theatre Arts at Taipei National University of the Arts, as well as a co-curator of the 2025 Tainan Arts Festival. He was selected as one of Performing Arts Review (PAR) Magazine’s “People of the Year” in 2021 and was a recipient of the Cloud Gate’s ”Art Makers Project” in 2022. As a theatre director, his works span a wide spectrum—from Taiwanese originals and localized adaptations to popular entertainment and socially engaged theatre. His creative vision centers on collectivity, pursuing a text-based “new realism” aesthetic. Several of his productions have been nominated for the Taishin Arts Award. He received the Best Director Award at the inaugural Taipei Theatre Awards for The Sun, and his work is also supported by the 2025 Taipei Theater MVP Grant from Taipei Performing Arts Center.
