Step into the world of Cloud Gate, one of Asia's most iconic contemporary dance companies in July 2026.
For the first time, Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan opens its doors to dancers worldwide and presents its international dance intensive.
This six-day intensive unfolds training rooted in Qi Gong, internal martial arts, Eastern philosophy, and contemporary dance techniques— foundations that define Cloud Gate's language.
Led by Cloud Gate's Associate Artistic Director LEE Ching-chun, the curriculum highlights Cloud Gate's distinctive blend of East and West, its evolving contemporary dance vocabulary, and its mind-body integration approach.
Dancers will engage in core Cloud Gate training, explore repertoire, observe company rehearsals and experience Cloud Gate's celebrated outdoor performance, an annual gathering of tens of thousands under the open sky. This signature event, where art and community meet, forms an essential part of the Summer Intensive journey.
This intimate intensive accepts only 25 dancers.

The intensive is led by LEE Ching-chun, Associate Artistic Director of Cloud Gate. With decades of experience as a principal dancer and rehearsal director, Lee has shaped the company’s artistic practice. Her teaching emphasizes presence, clarity, and embodied awareness, guiding dancers through Cloud Gate’s unique movement approach.
Founded in 1973 by LIN Hwai-min and led since 2020 by CHENG Tsung-lung, Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan is one of the world’s few contemporary companies with over 50 years of history. Hailed by The Times as “Asia’s leading contemporary dance theater,” Cloud Gate has performed at major festivals and theaters across continents.
Its movement language fuses internal martial arts, Qi Gong, classical aesthetics, and contemporary techniques—a poetic and meditative practice that bridges ancient wisdom with contemporary expression. Dancers train presence, clarity, and heightened physical awareness rooted in Asian philosophy.
Nestled between river and mountain in Tamsui, New Taipei City, Cloud Gate Theater is a space for reflection and renewal. Surrounded by nature, its studios invite artists to reconnect with body, breath, and landscape.
