With live performances by top-notch musicians, and storytelling by actors and little dancers, audiences of young and old are enticed to relax themselves in the world of classical music. No dozing off, no tantrums, and no long faces guaranteed!
Every year since 2016, the Cloud Gate Theater invites distinguished musicians, along with choreographers and theater actors, to organize lively concerts so as to share their love for classical music with preschoolers and school-aged children. Here, adults and kids alike need not to worry about observing dress codes or sitting properly. Instead, they are allowed to have an intimate encounter with the theater. The concerts have been well-received by the public since beginning.
This year, the witch sends out invitation letters to everyone. Whoever cracks the Morse code hidden behind the musical notes will become her successor. We invite our young audience to listen attentively and think carefully. The secret lies right in the musical notes!
The Art Forum for Confluence is a platform for sharing classical music with musicians and audiences. When classical music, local musicians, and the general public meet in this space of art, the musical melody shines brightly from their interaction. Unconventional art forms are welcome to use this space at will, so as to allow everyone to enjoy the pristine notes of classical music.
As the owner of the Your Musical Time Studio, WU Yu-ting writes, previews, and organizes events on classical music, and is a regular guest writer for several music magazines, including Performing Arts Review, Muzik, and Poco a Poco Music Education Foundation Quarterly. He was invited by the Eslite Performance Hall and the Theatre De La Sardine to act as the music director for A-Cho, the Adventure of One Ugly Boy in 2015, and Finding the Bluebird of Happiness in 2017, two musicals especially made for children. WU is also the producer and the speaker for the interactive musical concert Watch My Piano Magic Tricks, and the video series Mini Music School, both of which are devoted to children’s musical education and are hosted by Jingo Records.
SU Wei-chia graduated from National Taiwan University of Arts, with his career being inspired by Prof. WU Su-fen. In 2004, SU started the HORSE Dance Theater with some of his good friends CHEN Wu-kang, CHOU Shu-yi, YANG Yu-min, and CHIEN Hua-bao. In 2007, their collective work Velocity won the 6th Annual Taishin Arts Performing Award. Between 2009 and 2013, SU joined the Ballet Tech in New York as a guest dancer per invitation by the American ballet guru Eliot Feld. In 2013, SU started FreeSteps, a ten-year choreography project, in which two of the series were later commissioned by the National Theater and Concert Hall in 2017 and 2019 for production.
HU Ting-hsuan holds an M.Mus. from the Graduate Institute of Orchestral Instruments, Taipei National University of the Arts, Taiwan, and a Konzertexamen Diplom from Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber Dresden, Germany. She lived in Germany for seven years, and was a temporary member of the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden, a temporary member of the Münchner Rundfunkorchester, and a member of the Robert-Schumann-Philharmonie in Chemnitz, Germany. HU has been the Assistant Concertmaster at the Taipei Symphony Orchestra since 2018.
WENG Chung-Hua graduated from Taipei National University of the Arts, and went to the Eastman School of Music, USA, to study piano accompanying and chamber music. WENG is active in various instrument and vocal recitals, and has collaborated with many musicians, including violinists SU Shien-ta, PENG Gwang-lin, and LI I-Ching, who is the former concertmistress of the National Symphony Orchestra, cellists OU YANG Ling-yi and LIU Chu-Chuan, and vocalists Fernando WANG and LIN Ling-Hui. Starting from 2008, WENG regularly organizes a concert series of A Chat with Chamber Strings at the Department of Music, Soochow University, at which he currently holds a part-time lectureship.
MA Chao-chi holds a BA in Economics from National Taiwan University, and an MA in Educational Theatre from New York University. She went to École internationale de théâtre Jacques Lecoq in France to study mime and clowning techniques and received training in acting, directing, and playwriting. MA founded the Theatre De La Sardine in 2005 and is currently the president of the troupe. She is dedicated to teaching and creating modern physical comedies and clown performances, and has already written, directed, and acted over ten plays. In 2014, MA collaborated with Le Rire Medecin in France and started a “Dr. Red Nose” project, which provides company and comfort to sick children, their families, and medical staff. MA is the first clown in Asian to be certified for clown care by Le Rire Medecin.
