Mommy, I Love You! (Cancelled)
This year, on Mother’s Day, we have decided to say Mommy, I Love You with the Bon Clarinet Ensemble. The program includes beautiful and heart-touching pieces of childlike simplicity featuring the imagery of mother, such as Wiegenlied by Johannes Brahms, Gake no Ue no Ponyo (the eponymous theme song for the Studio Ghibli film Ponyo) by Hayao Miyazaki, and The Moon Represents My Heart, an all-time favorite in Taiwan, among others. We invite everyone to bring their mother and enjoy the warm holiday with their family.
About The Golden Lawn Music Party
Since 2019, the Cloud Gate Theater regularly plans the “Golden Lawn Music Parties” with the Art Forum for Confluence. This year, we again invited YANG Yuen-suo, a Taiwanese clarinetist who currently resides in the US, to act as the curator for the concert series, and offer you a beautiful musical afternoon under the golden sunset.
Bon means ‘good’ in French, and is homophonous with ‘to jump’ in Mandarin, creating the imagery of leaping. It aims to offer the audience brand new listening experiences by combining these two cross-linguistic concepts. The BON Clarinet Ensemble is the first clarinet performance group in Taiwan specializing in music theater pieces. Being the leader of the Ensemble, HSIEH Chieh-hao has successfully curated the first clarinet theater in Taiwan, Reality Dream, in 2015, which was later awarded with the title “The 2016 Music Star” by the Cultural Affairs Department of the New Taipei City government. In 2017 and 2018 in Chiayi, a small southwestern city in Taiwan, the Ensemble organized clarinet ensemble winter camps, which were very well-received by the students. Through organizing various concerts using a wide range of performance styles, the Ensemble hopes that all music lovers, young and old, could become familiar with the clarinet and its infinite possibilities.
