Woo Yat-hei

Dancer / Performer / Choreographer

Born in Hong Kong, Woo Yat-hei is a performer, choreographer and independent artist working across dance, theatre and interdisciplinary practices. His recent solo work, Burn Out Nijinsky (2025), explores the labor and inner world of performers, using intertextuality and parody to reflect on how individuals become products of history and society. In 2024, he formed a cross-disciplinary collective with fellow artists to develop a research project around the theme of “borders,” conducting fieldwork in the frontier closed area of Sha Tau Kok, Hong Kong. In 2025, he was selected to participate in the Intersecting Peripheries International Exchange Program at the Toyooka Theater Festival in Japan.

During his residency, Woo joins Cloud Gate dancers in their daily morning practice and visits the Tjimur Dance Theatre in Sandimen, Pingtung, for exchange and field research. He also travels to Nangan, Matsu, to explore the theme of “island boundaries,” extending his research through experiences of the body, land, and borders.
